Having been in Senegal for the past month and half, I have came in contact with women of all social and economic background. It so incredible how far women have come. All of the Senegalese women that I have meet are fun of life and laugher, nothing more then I expected. They have not allowed for their life circumstance to be the main focus. Among themselves they have built a network, to help their families, and children. Honestly, with out women this world would be clueless and as long as we continue to exclude women from the forefront of politics, education, and ext. we risk the losing and failing of many institutions.
I think often times we underestimate the struggles of women all around the world. Especially in Africa, with my experience living in a African family household and studying abroad in Senegal. I have noticed that there are many restrains that women are kept from. I find this so crazy because females are at the forefront of the household and are suppose to teach the children and educate them but they can’t because of their level education. Not to say that Western education is the only correct form of education, but they are then disregarded for something that they could not control. I commend my Society and Culture class that I am taking, for inviting female speakers and allowing them to share their experiences and business ventures.
